In another sign of 'living in Moshiach's times', Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti, joined with BSO chaplain Rick Braswell, and other Sheriff personnel, to patrol the streets of Broward county and to provide safety to the many Chabad Houses dotting the county, checking the security of the Synagogues, and watching Shul members walk safely from their homes to the Chabad Houses, and back home, after an all night Learn' a thon.
Starting out in Parkland, the patrol in an unmarked car continued to Hallandale Beach, and then moved on to Northeast Hollywood and Cooper City. Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus, the first shliach in Broward county, and the executive vice president of Chabad of South Broward, who hosted the Sheriff at 2am, says that besides the incredible gesture and kindness of the patrol and security, the Sheriff actually roused a few Shluchim who
"chapt a dreml' and made sure they stayed up all night as is the custom.
"Who would believe, that the most powerful man in Broward County, the Sheriff no less, who oversees a budget of $720,000,000 would not only provide at his own initiative security for Shavuos night for so many Chabad Houses, but that he would also act as a "vecker' guaranteeing that the Shluchim themselves properly carry out this most important Minhag BiYisroel',the Rabbi concluded.
