Every Organ - A Mitzvah

As the Rebbe Rashab writes in a maamar, when Mashiach comes everyone will manifestly see how the life-force that animates the organs of the body stems from Divinity. It will then be seen that every individual organ lives from the Divine life-force that is drawn into it by the fulfillment of the particular mitzvah which relates to that organ. For, as is well known, the 248 positive commandments correspond to the 248 bodily organs.

Remembering the Alter Rebbe’s Yahrzeit in Akko

Wednesday, Jan 02, 2008

On the night of 24th Teves, there was a grand farbrengen in Akko to commemorate the yahrzeit of the Alter Rebbe on 24th Teves. Hundreds of local residents attended the farbrengen, along with various public figures. These included leaders of the city’s Arab community, who wanted to honor the activities of Chabad, including its efforts to spread the awareness of the Seven Noachide Laws among the non-Jewish residents of Akko. One of the members of this group even said how much they were waiting for the arrival of Moshiach.

Rabbi Nosson Yitzchok Oirechman, Rav of the Chabad community in Akko and the director of Chabad institutions in the region, Rabbi Yosef Mekamel, vice director, and Rabbi Avraham Harroche, director of Chabad’s educational institutions, were present. Special guests included Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Oirechman, director of Chabad institutions in the Krayot, and Rabbi Menashe Althaus, shliach in Kiryat Tivon, who farbrenged with the crowd for hours.

The farbrengen followed a range of activities that took place over Chanukah in the city’s various areas. These included a Chanukah party at the municipality, attended by all of its employees, headed by Mayor Shimon Lankri.
