This week, around 500 IDF recruits from the Tzukei Ovda military base in southern Israel were sent home after 13 of their fellow soldiers came down with a very serious strain of pneumonia. The sick soldiers are currently in the hospital. Some of them are in a very serious condition and are even unconscious.
Military chaplain and Chabad chassid, Rabbi Shraga Dahan of Beit Shemesh, made sure to visit all of the hospitalized soldiers, placing a copy of Chittas at the bedside of each one.
Rabbi Dahan also lit Chanukah candles at the affected army bases. With the help of several bachurim, he gave out doughnuts. The families of the soldiers have really appreciated all of the help that Rabbi Dahan has given to their sons.
Rabbi Dahan gives a weekly shiur at the base. This week, when he announced that the shiur would be combined with a Chanukah party, he was surprised to receive a record turnout of 500 soldiers at the shiur.
