In memory of Rabbi Gavriel & Rebbetzin Rivkah Holtzberg HYD - Shluchim to Mumbai, India
One who requires a cure for schizophrenia should be careful with all details of the mitzvah of Tefillin. Their parents should also be more particular in this mitzvah.
This cure is mida keneged mida, the cure is identical to the problem. Regardless of the cause, schizophrenia is the contradiction between reality and perceived reality. The perceived reality is based on one’s intellect. The results are:
Emotions of fear, people desiring to hurt them, etc.
Extreme mood swings from perceived-reality feelings to unexplainable spiritual elation.
Part of the mitzvah of Tefillin and its remedy are: to dedicate one’s heart (emotions) and mind (intellect) to the true G-d, of who it says, I am G-d, I don’t change. Therefore, this mitzvah brings a unity between feelings based on intellect and reality.
