This week, Israel’s Minister of Internal Security Yitzchak Aharonovitz, visited Berlin for a series of meetings with the German government.
The visit to Berlin began with a service at Track 17, from where tens of thousands of Jews were sent to the death camps during the Holocaust.
The tefillah was conducted by shliach Rabbi Yehudah Teichtel. Shliach Rabbi Shmuel Segal recited Kaddish.
Afterwards, Minister Aharonovitz lit a candle in the memory of those who were murdered in the Holocaust.
The minister also spoke to the shluchim and praised Chabad for all of the help that they give to Jews around the world. “I am in close contact with Chabad Chassidim in Israel.”
The minister also asked about Chabad activities in Berlin.
“It’s important to the Jewish nation that Chabad are everywhere,” he said. “As the minister of internal security, I am very happy that there are people who care about the spiritual security of the Jewish people.”
