Over the past 7+ years, JEM’s My Encounter with the Rebbe project has built an oral history project documenting the story of the Rebbe’s life. We are now seeking a capable individual to join the My Encounter with the Rebbe team, who will be responsible and involved in all areas of the project, from research, planning and conducting interviews, to transcription, promotion and archiving.

JEM will train the person in the specifics of the job, but the candidate must have a combination of talents, including:

  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to connect with interviewees, to be empathetic and to sincerely listen to interviewees stories.
  • Enthusiastic self-motivation.
  • An interest in, and a knack for, the Rebbe’s life history.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills, and the ability to supervise.
  • A commitment to professional growth; a commitment of at least two years.
  • Organizational and logistical skills to research, plan and schedule numerous interviews at once.
  • Multi-lingual skills a plus
  • At least 2 years experience in project management.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel

Perhaps most importantly, the interviewer must share our conviction that documenting and sharing the Rebbe’s life through oral testimonies is a vital Shlichus.

This is a full-time position, requiring a commitment of at least two years.
