Young Chabad Woman Prisoner Released for Shabbos

A young Chabad woman from Kiryat Malachi who was arrested by the military police for desertion last week and was sentenced to fifty days in jail has been unexpectedly sent home for Shabbos.

The woman, who had only gotten married about a month ago, was released for Shabbos following much pressure and effort. On Sunday morning, at about 10 a.m., she has to return to the jail.

“We hope that this saga will end and the army will discharge her finally at the beginning of the week,” said an askan who has been heavily involved with the whole episode.
