As a rule, the Rebbeim didn’t offer Yechidus during the months of Elul and Tishrei because they were busy with High Holiday preparations. Yechidus is the soul-to-soul connection between chasid and Rebbe. This required preparation, both on the petitioner’s part and the Rebbe’s part. During the months of Elul-Tishrei, the Rebbeim were occupied with other holy services that allowed the chasid to connect to G-d. For example, Chasidim made an extra effort to come to the Rebbe during Tishrei, to fulfill the spiritual idea of Aliya L’Regel, “three times a year one should make a pilgrimage to the Beis HaMikdash.”
