On Monay, Dr. Shira Abramson of Tekoa, aged 60, was r"l killed in an automobile accident involving four vehicles. A fellow passenger was taken to hospital in serious condition.
Hatzolah and Magen David Adom who were called to the scene did CPR, but despite their best efforts, Dr. Abramson passed away. Meanwhile, five Arabs, also involved in the accident, were taken to the hospital by the Red Cross in light condition.
Hatzolah medic Zeevi Sofer reported, “This was a head-on collision between a Palestinian vehicle and an Israeli car. I and other Hatzolah medics treated a woman with moderate injuries but unfortunately the driver was killed on the spot. We also treated four lightly injured Palestinians. An army doctor confirmed the death of the driver. The cause of this serious accident is not clear.”
Dr. Abramson was a doctor at the Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem. Two years ago, her husband passed away from a heart attack. She leaves seven orphans.
One of her daughters, aged 16, is studying in Migdal Ohr in Migdal Haemek. Yesterday the staff had to inform her of her mother’s death, and she was so devastated that she had to be transported to the funeral in an ambulance very late at night, accompanied by a medical team and staff from Migdal Ohr.
About an hour before the accident, a resident of Tekoa visited Migdal Ohr, and Dr. Abramson’s daughter asked her to pass on to her mother a letter that she had written and she also gave her some money to buy a bar of chocolate to send with the letter.
Sadly, Dr. Abramson never received the letter and her daughter now has to deal with the worst news of all.
Rabbi Yaakov Yeret, assistant principal of Migdal Ohr, reported:
“I am in pieces. I never knew that I had any tears left in my body, but today they flowed uncontrollably. I have been through so many traumatic events in my life, I have seen many awful things, but today it was beyond control. To sit opposite a 16-year-old girl whose father had died in her arms from a heart attack and now her mother has been killed in a road accident … And all she could do was cry, ‘Abba, why????” And I have no answers for her, apart from shedding tears with her and asking, ‘Abba, why????’”
