The Rebbe's Advice #941 - Distancing from Parent

In memory of Rabbi Gavriel & Rebbetzin Rivkah Holtzberg HYD - Shluchim to Mumbai, India

I object to your expression “distancing,” regarding your father’s tradition which as you write, is your inheritance. A person may distance himself from something “outside” himself. However not regarding something that’s his inheritance. An inheritance is something going back tens of generations and was and is part of one’s actual physical flesh. However, G-d gives one free choice. This choice consists of accessing this inheritance in one’s daily life. However, every person who has been given this heritance has it inside of himself.
