The Rebbe's Advice #1008 - Traveling to Sibling’s Wedding

In memory of Rabbi Gavriel & Rebbetzin Rivkah Holtzberg HYD - Shluchim to Mumbai, India*

The Torah is concerned about one’s money. Therefore the Torah wants one to use his money on Torah oriented issues. If there is a surplus of money, it should be given to charity. Therefore, I find no Torah support to spend money for brothers and sisters to travel overseas to a sibling’s wedding! Conversely, it’s very important for parents to be at the wedding.

*As a practical matter, since each person’s circumstances are always different, one must use the guidance above as general instruction. The exact application at any given time must be discussed with a competent rabbi, or/and a counselor of Torah, a Mashpia.
