Supporter of Chabad Appointed as Shas Director-General

Nati Lasry, personal adviser of Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Ministry Eli Yishai, will soon be appointed as director-general of the Shas party, replacing Religious Affairs Minister Yaakov Margi.

Mr. Lasry will coordinate Shas’s municipal work and will have various powers in his new position. He first began working with Minister Yishai last year and has become one of the most prominent figures in his office.

Nati Lasry has been a supporter of Chabad for many years, and in the past he was the right-hand man of Chabad businessman Rabbi Chaim Leibowitz.
