The staff of the Chabad yeshiva, Chazon Eliyahu, in Tel Aviv has welcomed the famous rosh yeshiva Rabbi Avraham Lapidus of Argentina to its ranks. Rabbi Lapidus, who is known for his informative style, has been appointed as a Maggid Shiur and a director of afternoon and evening studies.

The yeshiva is also developing and growing on the material front. During the summer, a new dormitory building with twelve more bedrooms in the grounds of the yeshiva, and there are more comfortable classrooms and a new beis medrash has also been constructed for the kollel.

The construction and renovations have improved the appearance of the yeshiva, improving the quality of life for the students. Until now, the students have been living in dormitory apartments around the city center.

“There’s no doubt that an improvement in physical conditions will lead to progress and improvement also on the spiritual plane,” reported Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Meir Aryeh Schmerling. “The new classrooms are also more appropriate to the special nature of the yeshiva. At the yeshiva, there are several levels of study in accordance with the knowledge and experience of the students, and therefore there are several lessons at once.”

Rabbi Yosef Gerlitzky, head shliach and Chief Rabbi of the Chabad community in Tel Aviv, welcomed the expansion: “We are soon celebrating the yeshiva’s bar mitzvah, and we are certainly seeing great material and spiritual development and growth and many good fruits, along with the growth of all of the educational institutions in the city, and the opening of a midrasha for young women next week.”

The yeshiva is also currently launching a new program to enable young men who are interested in joining in yeshiva life to do it gradually and easily.
