The 30th annual Siyum Hamesechta of Yeshiva Gedolah Lubavitch London was held Wednesday evening, celebrating the completion of Maseches Kiddushin. Hundreds gathered at the Yeshiva to mark the occasion with a festive meal and words of inspiration, while recognition and hakaras hatov was expressed to both the Hanhala and the Talmidim of the Yeshiva.
The siyum was made by Hatamim Gedaliah Hertz, who then proceeded to deliver a talk on the topic based on a sicha of the Rebbe. This was followed by divrei bracha and a Devar Torah from Harav Elchonon Halpern, the esteemed Moro De’asra in Golders Green, who graced the event with his presence, together with his son Harav Chaim Halpern. Earlier in the day, the Bochurim had gathered for a test on the Masechta by both father and son.
The Rosh Yeshiva and Rav of Kehillas Chabad of Northwest London, Rabbi Y.M. Hertz spoke, giving a Devar Torah as well as very warm thanks to all the Hanhala of the Yeshiva, including Rabbi Leibush Heller, who is moving on after teaching in the Yeshiva for the past twelve years. Rabbi Heller himself then spoke, giving emotional words of thanks and giving his blessings for the continued success of the Yeshiva. Rabbi Heller’s post as Magid Shiur for Shiur Beis will be filled this coming year by Rabbi Gedaliah Lieberman.
The guest speaker was Rabbi Yosef Chazan of Manchester, who thrilled the audience with beautiful Divrei Torah and stories, and very moving words of Chizuk to the Bochurim to strengthen their learning to their fullest capability, never for a second losing focus.
The siyum, which was chaired by the Mashpia, Rabbi M.M. Gordon culminated with Rabbi Hertz and Rabbi Gordon presenting a certificate of achievement to those Bochurim who toiled tirelessly, finishing the entire Masechta, including a portion of Bochurim who learned all the Tosfos as well.
