New South Wales Parliamentary Sec. David Clarke lauded the efforts of the Yeshiva Centre’s Our Big Kitchen program, highlighting the teachings of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, that inspired its faith-based mission.
“To Rabbi Schneerson our daily lives should be lived with humility, joyfulness and always with a positive approach,” Clarke told the state legislative body. “He encouraged those who sought his counsel to promote education and charitable and humanitarian programs as a means of practicing godliness. This was the vision that he encouraged within Chabad and this was the vision that it wholeheartedly embraced in thought and in deeds. It is a vision that is alive and well today.”
Established in 2007 by Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Dovid and Laya Slavin as a project of the Yeshive Centre in Sydney, Our Big Kitchen operates a commercial-grade multipurpose facility staffed by volunteers. It provides meals to nursing homes, emergency health services and first responders.
