Many people came to pay their respects last week to Rabbi Michael and Rivka Dor, who were sitting shiva for their only son, Avraham Nochum (Avremi), aged 10, who was tragically killed in a road accident on Route 40 in southern Israel that occurred while the family was on its way back from a Chol Hamoed trip.
During the shiva, which began after Simchas Torah, many people came to the family home in Beitar Ilit to show their support. Among them were people from all backgrounds, including many public figures, Rabbis, and politicians, such as Ministers Eli Yishai and Yaakov Margi, Aryeh Deri, MK Michael Ben Ari, Beitar Ilit Mayor Meir Rubinstein, Elad Mayor Yitzchak Idan, and the director of the Education Ministry Dalit Stauber.
Avremi’s memory created a great Kiddush Hashem, as people heard about his very special personality. Many were shown his bedroom, where they were surprised to see how he had carefully packed up and put away his toys and games, replacing them on the shelf with pushkes and seforim. While one wall contained an aquarium full of fish, on another wall were posters of Chabad Rebbeim, and on the table lay a CD of Chabad niggunim that he listened to often.
When Dalit Stauber saw this, she was very moved and she exclaimed, “I am very proud of chareidi education.”
