Today is a special day. The opportunities and potential we have will never be repeated tomorrow or the next day. Yet even the great things we do today will not be good enough for tomorrow. This is the Rebbe's charge to us and the theme of this year's kinus; "Hayom Yom: maximize the kochos ruchni of every single day" and the commemoration of 200 years since the Alter Rebbe's passing.

The theme is connected to the 70th anniversary of the sefer's publication and the 200th yahrzeit of the Alter Rebbe. In his Igeres HaKodesh, the Alter Rebbe writes that on Rosh Hashana a new hamshacha of ruchnius is brought into the world, and what was accomplished last year is not adequate for this year. In Hayom Yom the Rebbe expands this concept further to apply to our daily lives.

The Rebbe personified continuous creativity, growth and innovation, and expects us Shluchim to do the same.
