Israeli Chabad House in Hungary Celebrates Ten Years

Six hundred people paid tribute to the shluchim in Hungary who work so hard for them. Various public figures attended a special evening at the Diamond Theater in Ramat Gan, which was emceed by Rabbi Dov Halperin. Certificates of merit were presented to donors and friends of the Keren Ohr Chabad House, which is located in Budapest.

The main speaker was shliach Rabbi Shmuel Raskin, who described his arrival in Hungary ten years ago at the request of head shliach and Av Beis Din of the Chabad community in Hungary, Rabbi Boruch Oberlander. He also praised the work of the shluchim in Debrecen, Rabbi Shmuel and Rikki Feigin, and the Tmimim who work in the city of Szeged.

 

Yossi Pariel, one of the main supporters of the Chabad House, described his own personal relationship with Chabad and Rabbi Raskin.

 

Rabbi Yona Metzger, Chief Rabbi of Israel, was the keynote speaker at the tribute evening and he spoke about the many achievements of Chabad in Hungary, adding that the shul operating within the Keren Ohr Chabad House is the first new shul to be built in the country since World War II.
