Sifrei Torah in Rechovot Brought Into the Chabad House in the Rain
This year, the Chabad House in Rechovot, run by Rabbi Mordechai Kastel, organized traditional Hakafos Shniyos at the end of Yom Tov.
Around one thousand people attended the Hakafos Shniyos celebration despite pouring rain. The sifrei Torah were wrapped in nylon to protect them from the rain, and there was much lively dancing. Also present were various local Rabbis, who came to celebrate with Chabad.
Even the local mayor and members of the council came to dance. They were honored with the hakafos, and in true Rechovot tradition Mayor Rachamim Mellul and Mr. Oded Amram, head of the Workers’ Committee, sang “Mi Pi Keil.”
Rabbi Gluckowsky, leader of the Chabad community in Rechovot, emceed the celebration, which was organized with the cooperation of the community.
Live music was provided by Reb Aryeh Weinrich’s band.
