(Chabad.org) Rebbetzin Chave Hecht, the longtime Chabad-Lubavitch emissary who co-founded Camp Emunah, a Jewish summer camp for girls, in Greenfield Park, N.Y., was honored at the 10th Annual Empowerment Breakfast of Ulster County Chabad.
Hecht founded the camp together with her late husband, Rabbi J. J. Hecht, 60 years ago under the direction of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory.
Campers and staff from the early years joined in honoring Hecht, as did several local congressmen, state assemblymen, county legislators, and other elected officials, including Ellenville Mayor Jeff Kaplan.
Rabbi Abraham Shemtov, chairman of the worldwide umbrella organization Agudas Chasidei Chabad and executive director of the Camp Gan Israel summer camp for boys in Parksville, N.Y., spoke at the event.
