The Cypriot Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism Niokalis Silikiotis met with the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus Rabbi Aryeh Zeev Raskin to discuss the development of Jewish communal institutions on the island.
At the meeting, various community representatives and a delegation of businesspeople led by Dovid Farkash of New York took part.
Mr. Farkash, who has supported the community ever since it was funded, spoke to the minister about the need for government support and help in establishing an official shul and Jewish center for the sake of the community, visitors, and businesspeople.
The minister expressed his gratitude for the activities of the Jewish community that benefit Cyprus and for the cooperation with Jewish investors in the fields of energy and gas. Rabbi Raskin thanked the minister for all of the government help that has been received for developing Jewish life in Cyprus.
