Mental health has long been a taboo issue in the Chassidishe world. With the escalating pressures of unemployment, economic uncertainty and biting the bullet to hopefully make ends meet, issues which many have been coping with are now reaching their breaking points.

Through Machzis Hashekel (MHCH), a volunteer organization spearheaded by Aaron Vogel and Zaki Tamir, a CH helpline was set up to assist Crown Heights community members with all kinds of difficulties, 1-347-770-MHCH (6424).

Now Machzis Hashekel is once again responding to the community’s needs. A volunteer committee of licensed mental health practitioners is dedicated to assisting community members find the help they need.

The team of Dr. Meir Spinner M.D. (psychiatrist) and Dr. Michoel Friend (PHD psychologist) are long standing members of the community with a keen understand of the sensitivities and confidentiality needed. In addition Yossi Shain will be serving as a volunteer intern to facilitate the speedy processing of all calls.

Unemployment, medical crises, shalom bayis, financial difficulties and at risk children are just a few of the issues which place tremendous strain on the entire family. There is no reason to let things reach the breaking point before seeking help.
