Chabad Minibus Attacked by Stone-throwers Near Har Hazeisim

When the family of the late Tomim Shmuel Gershon Meizlisch, son of ybl”c Rabbi Avraham Meizlisch of Kfar Chabad, went to visit his gravesite today in honor of his yahrzeit, they ended up barely escaping with their lives.

Driver Amos Mifai, a resident of Shikkun Chabad in Lod, later reported:

“On the way to Har Hazeitim, our minibus, which was full of people from Kfar Chabad, got stuck in a traffic jam outside an Arab school. About three meters away from us, a group of Arab hooligans started hurling rocks at us.

“It was very scary, as the stones were larger than potatoes. The Arab teenagers, who were apparently students at the school, were leaving to go home at that time at the end of the school day. They had a bloodthirsty look about them as they hurled rocks at us nonstop. The right side of the bus was hit, and the windowpanes shattered. It was a real miracle that no one got hurt.”

Reb Avraham Shechter, who was also on the minibus, said, “I’ve heard many stories about things that happened in the past on the way to Har Hazeitim, but I never believed it would happen to me. These youths were very close to the minibus.

“As I was sitting on the right side, I saw death looking me in the face. The large rocks that were thrown at us shattered the windowpane next to my seat, but miraculously the stone hit the roof of the vehicle, which stopped it from hitting my head directly. Everything was full of glass, and it was very scary.”
