A group of Jewish orphans recently celebrated their bar mitzvahs at the Western wall.
The organization Chiuyucho shel Yeled, run by Rabbi Mordechai Chamami and his son Menachem Mendel, organized the bar mitzvah. This is the fourteenth year that the organization has arranged this event.
In the morning, the boys arrived at the Western Wall and davened Shacharis with their new tefillin. Afterwards, they were driven to a hall in Tel Aviv for a celebration before moving on to Kfar Chabad to receive a suit. The tefillin and the suit were given to the boys as gifts.
“This organization helps orphans in such a big way,” said one of the mothers. The organization also helps the bereaved families throughout the year.
