On Wednesday, Chaya Chana Bracha bas Esther, who passed away on erev Rosh Chodesh, was brought back to Israel for burial.
Rabbi Yoel Kaplan, Chief Rabbi of Albania and Montenegro, with the help of the Halevi family of New York, arranged shemira and also organized the return of the deceased to Israel.
The funeral is taking place Thursday at the cemetery in Beit Shemesh. Rabbi Yossi Nachshon, shliach in Hebron, is organizing the funeral.
The deceased, who was Israeli, lived in Los Angeles for many years. She became closer to Yiddishkeit and she visited the Rebbe in Crown Heights many times.
Two months ago, she traveled to Albania for an innovative treatment for a serious illness. Although the treatment helped to a certain extent, she became very weak and eventually passed away.
Rabbi Mendy Riesel, who spent Tishrei in Albania, got to know her, and he reported, “She wouldn’t compromise on anything – shofar, lulav, and simcha. We made sure to provide it all for her and in her weakened state, she participated as much as she could and was sure that she would eventually recover. We were amazed by her faith and belief, as well as her unceasing gratitude to Hashem for letting her enjoy the festive atmosphere of Tishrei even in Albania.”(SOURCE: COL.ORG.IL)
