On Shabbos Re’eh (August 17-18), close to 100 young adults in Melbourne attended the annual DaMinyan Shabbaton at the Foothills Conference Centre. The beautiful tranquil surrounds provided the perfect backdrop for an atmosphere of relaxation, introspection and focus.

DaMinyan is a unique Shule that caters to young adult couples and singles from all backgrounds and walks of life. It operates in a warm, accepting and inspirational environment, and imbues all of its members with a strong sense of belonging, Jewish pride and community. Combining a serious commitment to Judaism with a friendly atmosphere, DaMinyan makes a real and lasting impact on a significant and diverse range of people.

Rabbi YY Jacobson attended the Shabbaton as the scholar in residence, and radiated a spiritual energy that was palpable throughout the entire Shabbos. In his unique and inimitable way, he wove a tapestry of Torah, Chassidus, humor, stories, anecdotes, personal experiences and song to transmit the Shabbaton theme - “It’s your call!” Throughout all the Shiurim, talks, Farbenegens and round-table discussions, he encouraged everyone to discover their true identity and let it shine.

On Motzei Shabbos everyone was uplifted by the beautiful music and inspiring stories of Moshe Hendel Feiglin.

Rabbi Jacobson was himself inspired by the incredible synergy of the DaMinyan community, which he hopes will be emulated in young Lubavitch communities across the globe.

The Shabbaton was arranged by Rabbi Moshe and Dina Kahn, and coordinated by the DaMinyan Shabbaton organizing committee.
