Afula Steps Up Activities on Shavuos

This year, Shavuos activities in the northern Israeli town of Afula ended with a Kinnus Torah.

Here is a rundown of the various projects that took place this year:

* During the week before Shavuos, hundreds of kindergarten children in Afula attended a range of activities run by local shliach Rabbi Shlomo Segal in the city’s three main shuls.

* At the same time, more than 4,000 schoolchildren received a special flyer about Shavuos that was produced by the Chabad Youth Organization.

* On Shavuos itself, Anash and the Tmimim in Afula, Afula Ilit, and Givat Hamoreh went out to read the Aseres Hadibros around the city. Hundreds of children and their parents came to listen, and they recited the Twelve Pesukim and received a raffle ticket. This year, more children attended these readings than ever.

* As mentioned earlier, a Kinnus Torah was held on the subject of kashrus. Rabbi Betzalel Shotz, a kashrus supervisor for Rav Landa, was the guest speaker. He explained the importance of having very high standards in kashrus, using a slideshow to illustrate his point. He also told some amazing stories of divine providence related to the subject of kashrus.
