Knesset member Michael Ben Ari shared a fascinating story about the Rebbe on Tuesday as part of a speech on “mutual guarantees.”
This was a story first told several years ago about the Rebbe’s directive to renovate a mikvah in Hamedan in Lebanon after it had been destroyed by terrorists.
The late Rabbi Levi Bistritzky of Tzefat visited the mikvah and saw the destruction for himself. He wrote down a list of necessary repairs. A week later, Rabbi Bistritzky returned to Lebanon to make sure that all of the repairs had been carried out in accordance with halacha, and when he returned to Tzefat he sent a report to the Rebbe. The Rebbe was very interested in even the most minor details and he even paid all of the costs.
