Senior Center Director in Flatbush

Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Center Director position in the Flatbush area.

A Senior Center Director is responsible for

• attracting large numbers of seniors to regularly attend the senior center,

• managing all the meal service, healthy aging, educational, recreational and case management services provided at a senior center,

• assuring full quality compliance with the contractually required standards and procedures for these programs (including accurate recordkeeping and timely reporting),

• identifying the best prices for all food and other items required by the senior center,

• ensuring that expenditures are within budget and purchases are made in accordance to regulations,

• assuring customer satisfaction,

• establishing collaborative relations with other service providers to enhance services available at the senior center;

• assuring compliance with Building, Fire and Health Department Codes

• collaborating with local community organizations and elected public officials

• assisting with resource development and fundraising activities

and

• identifying and implementing new and innovative programming at the senior center.

It is an intensive position with little assistance from support staff.

Candidates should have a MSW, MPA (Masters of Public Administration) or similar degree and/or appropriate successful prior experience, excellent oral and written communication and computer skills. Depending on location (more than one position may be available) ability to speak Russian and/or Yiddish is helpful. Knowledge of kashrus laws is important. Senior Center Directors are required to have a NYC Department of Health Food Handler's Certificate so candidates who do not already have one would have to secure one.

The position is full time (part time is not an option) Monday - Friday (several Sundays a year are also required as make-up days for extra holiday closings) and offers compensation and benefits including health insurance (which requires partial employee contribution).
