Keeping kosher becomes easier

On any Friday morning, you will probably find Rabbi Boruch Greenwald busy in the kitchen preparing kosher meals for the coming Sabbath.

Greenwald, like Jews the world over, follows closely 613 mitzvos, or positive commandments, of his faith. One of those commands the followers of Judaism to consume only kosher foods.

The word "kosher" has been adopted by popular American culture as slang for "all right" or "good." But for Jews, kosher is a deep spiritual concept that closely connects the consumption of food to their faith.

Following the dietary laws of the Torah, the Jewish holy book, helps bring Jews closer to God and their faith, Greenwald said. continue...
